Tsuyoshi Ozawa

As a student at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, Ozawa began his work called “Jizo-ing” in which he photographs Jizo statues that he has made himself and then situated in different environments. In 1993, he began creating portable, miniature galleries from milk boxes, naming them, Nasubi Gallery or Consultation Art. In 1999, he planned Museum of Soy Sauce Art in what can be considered an ironic statement directed at the Japanese art history. In 2001, he began “Vegetable Weapon”, a series of photographic portraits of young women holding weapons made from vegetable. In 2004, he had his first solo museum exhibition “Answer with Yes and No!” at the Mori Art Museum, Tokyo.
